The 37th annual Stanford Summer Economic Institute for Teachers will take place from July 22 – 26, 2024. This is a week-long program, organized by Professors Ran Abramitzky, John Shoven, and Gavin Wright, and directed at high school and community college economic teachers. The program covers a broad range of economic topics to enhance teacher's curricular goals.
The broad theme this year will be “Economic Challenges for the 21st Century.” In addition to the faculty organizers’ presentations, there will be talks on topics likely to include climate change, personal finance, labor management practices and the changing workplace, and human-centered artificial intelligence. In addition, Jennifer Burns, Stanford Associate Professor of History, will discuss her new book, Milton Friedman: The Last Conservative (an Economist best book of 2023). Another highlight will be a presentation by 2021 Nobel Prizewinner, Guido W. Imbens, Stanford Professor of Economics.
