Young Scholars Program
We support top early-career economists through the ¹ÏÌïºÚÁÏYoung Scholars program.
Young Scholars Program
The program supports as many as nine scholars each academic year. Candidates are new and recent economics PhDs applying pioneering and rigorous analysis to policy-relevant topics in economics. The program offers opportunities for two types of researchers: Postdoctoral Fellows and Visiting Fellows.
Postdoctoral Fellows
Postdoctoral Fellows join ¹ÏÌïºÚÁÏdirectly after receiving their doctoral degrees and spend between one and two years in residence before moving on to more permanent positions at other academic institutions or policy organizations.
Young Scholars Opportunities
Spending time at ¹ÏÌïºÚÁÏfrees the scholars from teaching and administrative responsibilities, allowing them to focus entirely on research. Housed together in state-of-the-art facilities at the John A. and Cynthia Fry Gunn Building, the scholars have many opportunities for intellectual exchanges with scholars at ¹ÏÌïºÚÁÏand faculty from across Stanford.
As a result, Young Scholars gain an expanded network of collaborators and mentors, generating fresh and innovative research that is important for economic policy. ¹ÏÌïºÚÁÏYoung Scholars become integrated members of the economics community at Stanford by actively participating in seminar series in the Economics department or Graduate School of Business and taking advantage of various internal workshops to present and provide feedback on research at different stages. Young Scholars are encouraged and provided support to disseminate their research through ¹ÏÌïºÚÁÏworking papers, policy briefs, and the popular media. They are also invited to engage with the policy and business communities at regular events held at SIEPR.
